I recently participated in the first annual “24-hour radio race” sponsored by the Santa Monica based radio station, KCRW. At 10:00 a.m. PST on Saturday the 17th of August, race organizers emailed a “theme” to a couple hundred radio producers around the world, and contestants had until Sunday the 18th at 10:00 a.m. PST to upload a finished piece of “nonfiction” to Soundcloud. The prompt: “The Last Thing You’d Expect.” The piece had to relate a true story and be no longer than six minutes in length. Here is my entry.
